Greetings Friends,
I have previously mentioned my support of the important work of the International Justice Mission (IJM). As a Christian organization, they have been advocating for justice of the poor, widow, and orphaned for the past 15 years. As a Freedom Partner, I was honored to accept their 100 post card Challenge to End Modern-Day Slavery. In the coming weeks, IJM constituents will hand deliver all signed post cards to your Senator or Representative.
I could provide the human trafficking statistics for you to glaze over, but as the old saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Therefore, I am sharing a short video produced by the IJM which paints the reality of this growing atrocity across the world, and yes, even in the United States.
Over the next few weeks, IJM will be working to get the Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act (TVPRA) passed in Congress before they adjourn for the elections. In the TVPRA of 2003, the Bush administration authorized more than $200 million to combat human trafficking. The TVPRA in progress renews the U.S. government’s commitment to identify and assist victims exploited through labor and sex trafficking in the U.S. The TVPRA provides resources and initiatives to assist the 18,000-20,000 victims of human trafficking in the United States every year. It empowers victims to bring civil suits against traffickers for actual and punitive damages. It also encourages the nation’s 21,000 state and local law enforcement agencies to participate in the detection and investigation of human trafficking cases. (All information is courtesy of IJM.)
There is good news: YOU can help! Be part of the solution to end slavery. I am asking you and a recruited friend to:

I will mail all signed postcards to the IJM Headquarters in Washington, DC on Saturday.
You only need to include your name, must include city and state (address is not required), Dear: “Senator,” and your signature.
My goal is to gather 150 signatures by the end of the week. Please join me in signing, spreading the word, and standing against this injustice of humanity.

We mailed a total of 110 postcards last week (34 of which were gathered online). Thank you so much for your support of this effort. Blessings,
MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!
To all of YOU who signed postcards as part of the 100 Postcard challenge, I want YOU to know that your signature has made a difference. Congress just passes the Trafficking Victims Protection Re-authorization Act, and it’s all because YOU cared enough to pay attention and sign a card. In the words of Mother Teresa, “Do small things with great love!” Thank YOU.
