2012 provided much time for personal reflection. I got honest with the Lord about a lot of things, but I also got honest with myself. I really focused on spending time alone in his presence. I worked on my marriage and building my home. Together, my husband and I revisited our diet and exercise plans. I focused on discipling my little one. I reevaluated my personal relationships and our familial relationship with our local church and the community in which we live. I was also very intentional about caring for my soul – taking time to rest, enjoying the Sabbaths, taking spiritual retreats, and making note of those things that are life giving for me.
During all of this reflection, something dawned on me. I don’t really have a hobby. Besides going out to eat or catching an occasional movie, there wasn’t much I did for fun. Since I’m a pretty serious thinker, I thought it best to explore further what I used to do for fun (you know before marriage and kids). Then it occurred to me…I really miss dancing. I danced for many years growing up, but nothing serious. By the time I reached high school, I thoroughly enjoyed dancing (although most of it was in the night club). Once I accepted the demanding responsibilities of college life, there was no room for dancing so I put it aside.
Within our home, I have passed the joy of dancing on to my daughter. Many of our weekends are filled listening to music and dancing. We were thrilled to find a Christian dance theater in which to enroll her last fall. At the time I was thinking: maybe I can find a place to take an adult class. When my husband and I looked at the financial numbers, however, I didn’t think it would be wise to enroll in a dance class. So I shrugged my shoulders and again put dancing aside.
A few weeks went by without my thinking about the idea and then I received an email in my inbox notifying me that my daughter’s dance company decided to offer an adult dance class for free! I nearly cried. I share this story as a testimony to say, “You are God’s beloved child. He cares about the things that concern you. Nothing is too small. You have a loving Heavenly Father who desires to give good gifts to his children.”
“Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart Ps. 37:4 [NIV]).”
“But seek first the kingdom [of God] and his righteousness, and all these things [your needs and he also promises to provide in abundance beyond what you need] will be given to you as well (Matt. 6:33).”
I am humbled and thankful that God has given me the blessing of worshiping him through dance. I pray that you too will find your own way to recharge your batteries and worship Him. And when no one else is watching, I hope you’ll dance.

I love when God blesses us with things we may find trivial to ask Him about but He knows still we would love. Praise Him for blessing you right in the way you desired. Keep seeking Him, Natasha, of course not for the blessing but just to worship Him who is such a blessing to us in ALL things.
Praising God with you!
Ohhhh I love to dance as well…….once I became a Christian not any opportunites…..BUT now I am a quilter and my creativity is sprouting out in that direction. Just had a small piece displayed in a national magazine and I am so greatful to GOD for the affirmation. Enjoying your blog Sista!
