I am so humbled by the people God has allowed to enter my life and shape me as a person and as a leader. One of those persons is General John Allen, U.S .Marine Corps (Retired). General Allen was the Deputy Commandant of Midshipmen while I was a midshipman at the Naval Academy. He and his beautiful wife, Kathy Allen, were devoted fans of the Naval Academy’s Gospel Choir where I worshipped and served as a student leader. General Allan represented the highest ideals of honor, courage, and commitment and became a trusted leader and mentor. It is my pleasure to feature General Allen in today’s Mentoring Moment.
In honor to his faithful 42 years of service to our country, the legacy of his family, and the contributions and sacrifices of the Naval Academy, service members, and their families across the world, please take a few minutes to experience General Allen’s journey.
